Tourism products that list on www.visitcanberra.com.au must provide a direct service or experience to the leisure tourist. Your product must be located in the ACT or nearby, within the Capital Region. Tourism products must operate out of a physical location and have a web site. Please note: purely web based businesses are ineligible.
Products must operate within one of the following categories:
An accommodation establishment is a place offering accommodation for leisure tourists. You must provide accommodation that is bookable on a nightly, weekly, mid-week or weekend basis.
If your business offers properties at more than one location/physical address, you must take out individual listings for each property. Accommodation Booking Services are not eligible to list.
Eligible accommodation properties must fall into one of the following categories and belong to the appropriate governing body (e.g AHA or B&B Association):
- Backpackers and Hostels
- Bed and Breakfasts
- Caravan and Camping
- Hotels and Motels
- Residential Colleges
- Rural Properties
- Self Contained
A tourist attraction is a particular place/area of interest to a leisure tourist and:
- Is static with a distinct boundary
- Offers a unique, distinct experience that reflects the area in which it is located
- Is open/accessible most days of the year, with regular opening/access hours
- Can be free to enter or have an admission fee
This category also includes restaurants and retail outlets where leisure-tourism forms a significant part of the business.
Eligible attractions must fall into one of following categories:
- Bars and nightclubs
- Cinema
- Casino and licensed clubs
- Breweries
- Food markets
- Restaurants and cafes
- Wineries
- Architecture
- Embassies
- Historic places
- Memorials
- Places of worship
- Museums and galleries
- National Attractions
- Outdoors and nature
- Shopping and markets
- Spas and Relaxation
- Arcades and games
- Indoor sports
- Outdoor sports
Events must be relevant to the leisure tourism market and have the best potential to attract interstate visitation. They must have a set start and end date.
Please note: neither permanent and ongoing events, nor business events such as conventions or trade fairs are eligible.
Eligible events must fall into one of the following categories:
- Exhibits, shows and displays
- Festivals and Celebrations
- Markets
- Music
- Sport
- Talks and workshops
- Theatre and dance
This section is for Tour companies to list their business, and within that listing, the tours that they offer around Canberra and the Region. Tours must provide a leisure-tourism experience of significant appeal to tourists.
Eligible tours must offer regular organised excursions with scheduled departures, a personal guide or host and commentary. Tours may vary in duration from less than a day to one day or extended touring.
Eligible tour companies must offer tours in at least one of the following categories:
- Extended tours
- Full day
- Half day or less
- Night
- Tailored
Please note: Tours that come to Canberra from other regions are ineligible for listing on
visitcanberra.
A hire company provides products or services that are hired for a specific period of time and can be used/operated by the leisure tourist.
Please note: Hire operators offering products/services relating to party hire, wedding hire, catering, business hire etc are not eligible for listing on
visitcanberra.
Eligible hire companies must be fall into one of the following categories:
- Bicycles
- Boats
- Campervans and Motorhomes
- Cars
- Equipment
- Fourwheel Drives
- Minibuses and Coaches
- Motorcycles
- Yachts
A transport company provides point to point travel / transfers for the leisure tourist.
Eligible transport companies must fall into one of the following categories:
- Air services
- Coach services
- Ferry services
- Rail services
- Transfers
The only information services that are available to add or update are ACT airports that cater to commercial flights.
Please note: Australian Capital Tourism reserves the final right to reject any product or service if it is felt to be inappropriate for listing on MyATDW and displayed on
visitcanberra.
