Canberra Airport is seeking new immersive experiences to add to their augmented reality display screen in their baggage area.
Visitors waiting for their bags or to meet friends and relatives can currently engage with the screen to pat a virtual cheetah from the National Zoo & Aquarium, spot cut bettongs from Mulligans Flat Sanctuary and be ‘virtually’ splashed by a whale from the NSW South Coast.
The augmented reality screen was unveiled last year and is one of three projects funded by the Federal Government’s Tourism Demand Driver Infrastructure Fund (TDDI).
The other TDDI projects launched in 2016 included:
- A new 2.2km Bushland Nature Walk at the Australian National Botanic Gardens that provides stunning views across the lake to the city and is part of the Black Mountain environment, home to 650 plant species including 60 types of orchids.
- A National Arboretum Canberra augmented reality app featuring six holograms welcoming visitors to the Arboretum and bringing its history to life in addition to soundscapes and information snippets.
