Nominations are now open for the 2017 Canberra Region Tourism Awards, as announced at the official launch yesterday at the Canberra Theatre Centre.
ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr MLA spoke about the importance of the Awards which provide an opportunity to showcase the best of our region’s tourism operators as well as promote, encourage and reward tourism excellence.
The Awards are open to all businesses and suppliers to the tourism industry. In 2017, there are 32 categories available to enter, including the new Canberra Region Local Government Award for Tourism. The winners of categories 1 – 25 will become finalists in the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards where they are judged against other state winners in their category.
A notable change in 2017 is the introduction of a new online Australian Tourism Awards portal by the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC). The portal will provide entrants in each state and territory with a streamlined and efficient system for the nomination and submission process.
Entrant support programs will continue this year, which includes workshops, mentoring, a submission review service and the introduction of new entrant handbooks. These support programs are a valuable source of information to assist with submission preparation and business planning.
More information on categories, the new portal, key dates and entry information, can be found on the Canberra Region Tourism Awards website.
Nominations close on Wednesday 31 May 2017.
