  • Questions & Change: 2017 Canberra and Region Heritage Festival
POSTED April 13, 2017
CATEGORIES General,

The 2017 Canberra and Region Heritage Festival marks the 50th anniversary of the 1967 constitutional referendum that saw Indigenous Australians finally included in the census, and thus as Australian citizens. The 2017 festival theme ‘Questions & Change’ will focus on commemorating this historic event as we continue the national conversation around Indigenous inclusion, recognition and celebration of our unique cultural heritage.

The festival raises awareness to the ongoing need to conserve the region’s natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage.

The 2017 Canberra and Region Heritage Festival runs over 20 days, from Tuesday 18 April – Sunday 7 May. The program is made up of more than 140 events across the local region including tours, open days, talks and cultural events. More than 100 of these events are free or have a gold coin entry.

View the program at www.act.gov.au/heritagefestival, or collect a copy from the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre at Regatta Point.
