VisitCanberra are currently working on a new project initiative in collaboration with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) to assist tourism organisations become China Ready.
The objective of the project is to connect Mandarin speaking hospitality and tourism students from CIT with organisations who have relevant work experience and employment opportunities/skills gaps to work with Chinese visitors.
This could be for example translation at trade shows or with collateral, customer service, hosting familiarisations, volunteer work, internships, or regular part time and full time employment.
This project is one of the implementation recommendations from the 2015 Canberra Tourism Employment Plan (TEP). The TEP identified a need within the ACT tourism industry to increase the capacity of the sector to be China Ready.
China is one of Canberra’s fastest growing visitor markets, which currently represents a 21.3% share of the ACT international visitor market.
If you have a relevant employment or work experience opportunity, please complete the expression of interest form and we will connect you with interested students through the CIT Student Association.
Please contact David Barker, Product and Industry Development Manager, VisitCanberra on 6207 0760 if you have any questions.
