The Canberra and Region Visitors Centre hosted a two day famil for regional Visitor Information Centre staff from Cooma, Tumut, Shellharbour, Eurobodalla and Orange.
Held annually, the famil for regional Visitor Information Centres aims to educate participants about products in Canberra and encourages them to share this information with colleagues to assist in the promotion of the Canberra region to interstate visitors.
Participants visited a diverse range of attractions across the two days including Mercure Hotel Canberra, National Museum of Australia, Pialligo Estate, Canberra Airport, Australian War Memorial, Capital Brewing Co, Parliament House, National Gallery of Australia, Pollen Café and the Australian National Botanic Gardens before concluding the famil at the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre.
Feedback from the participants indicated that they have increased their product knowledge and are better equipped to recommend Canberra to visitors in their respective Visitor Information Centres.
“What can I say but wow! The Canberra famil was the best I have been on in many years, professionally delivered and packed with all the things I consider to be Canberra’s best visitor experiences. The showcase of Canberra product, the commitment to supporting the region’s tourism and visitor service sector is outstanding and one we can all learn from. The value of the Canberra famil program cannot be underestimated; it works to build a strong network between our tourism destinations and ensures we are well equipped to cross promote each other in the future,” one participant commented in their feedback.
The CRVC thanks industry partners for their generous support of this famil. If you would like your product included in the CRVC famil program, please contact Robert Smethills, Acting Manager, Canberra and Region Visitors Centre.
