NGA Play at the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) has been transformed by dynamic Indonesian art duo Indieguerillas. Dive into their outrageously fun Indonesian-Pop world with epic murals, interactive installations and playful art projects, all inspired by the NGA’s collection of Indonesian textiles.
Known for creating surprising spaces that encourage community engagement, Indieguerillas’ interactive artworks and creative art projects fill NGA Play with colour and sound.
NGA Play features a bicycle to activate a wayang beber scroll-like screen featuring works from the NGA’s outstanding American art collection, while a second bicycle triggers the sound of an Indonesian gamelan orchestra.
Children can explore the value of harmony through an interactive video, or make their own digital avatar using the NGA Play app. They can play with Javanese puppets and create 3D paper toys to take home or leave for display in the YEAH GALLERY.
NGA’s dedicated kids and family space is free and open daily 10am – 5pm.
