  • New training course for Chinese freelance tour guides
POSTED April 4, 2018
CATEGORIES International, Workshops,

Austrade is working in partnership with TAFE NSW to deliver a new and unique training opportunity – Business Essentials for Tour Guides – for freelance guides that provide services for Chinese-speaking visitors to Australia.

The program has been developed to increase participants’ knowledge in fundamental business areas in Australia including contracts, negligence, competition and consumer law, financial management, and insurance.

Each workshop provides participants with support and advice to manage their business operations and deliver safe, high-quality tourism experiences for the Chinese inbound tourism market.

The ‘Business Essentials’ program for freelance Tour Guides was developed to fill an identified gap following the Excellence in China Inbound Tour Guide Education (EXCITE) program. EXCITE, delivered by TAFE NSW in partnership with the Australian Tourism Export Council and funded by Austrade, focussed on enhancing participants’ skills and knowledge to increase the long-term professionalism of the Chinese tour guide market, and ultimately the quality of service they provide.

Sessions were delivered in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Cairns to increase the reach of the program across these key Chinese visitor markets. The final session will take place in Sydney on 12 April 2018.
