  • New Director at the National Gallery of Australia
POSTED May 16, 2018
CATEGORIES Exhibitions, General,

Mr Nick Mitzevich has been named the new Director of the National Gallery of Australia.

Starting in July, the current Director of the Art Gallery of South Australia will replace retiring Director Gerard Vaughan.

Prior to his South Australian role, Mr Mitzevich was the Director of the University of Queensland Art Museum and Newcastle Art Gallery.

NGA Chairman Allan Myers thanked Mr Vaughan for his term.

‘Gerard has brought particular focus to the permanent collection during his time as Director, overseeing a major rehang of the galleries which has reinvigorated the visitor experience. Along with regular gallery changeovers, there has been growth in visitor numbers and the NGA’s outstanding collection has been loaned extensively. The Council wishes Gerard well in his retirement.’
