VisitCanberra was joined by nine tourism industry partners in Adelaide from 16-19 April to take part in the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE), Australia’s largest travel and tourism business-to-business event.
This year’s ATE event brought together more than 2000 delegates, including 700 international tourism buyers from more than 30 countries to meet with Australian tourism products and experiences.
Over the course of ATE, VisitCanberra, along with the Canberra industry partners held more than 800 meetings with key international decision makers. Canberra as a tourism destination was promoted through these appointments, as well as the operator’s products and experiences.
Industry partners included Abode Hotels, Australian Institute of Sport, Blue Skies Adventure Tours and Urban Stays, Canberra Guided Tours, Canberra Rex Hotel and Serviced Apartments, Explore Canberra (Roundhouse Hotels), National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Australia and Ovolo Nishi.
VisitCanberra’s presence was complimented by a Canberra Cafe which created a networking area for all delegates to gather and make business connections. The cafe prepared close to 3,000 cups of perfectly crafted coffee thanks to ONA Coffee, and gave out hand-crafted Robyn Rowe chocolates and a selection of Canberra-themed cookies.
Canberra’s craft beer was showcased at the Happy Hour networking event in the Canberra Cafe, with a selection of Bentspoke Brewing Co. and Capital Brewing Co. beers served alongside a charcuterie selection from Pialligo Estate.
Following ATE, VisitCanberra hosted international buyers on a four-day famil program, which allowed buyers to experience Canberra’s tourism offering first-hand.
