The Australian Government has announced a total of $641.6 million over 5 years from 2017-18 to 2021-22 for the program. The BBRF provides organisations with grants for projects that provide economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas. Round 3 grant applications opened on 27 September, with applications for the round closing on 15 November 2018 5:00pm AEDT.
There are two streams of funding available under the program.
- The Infrastructure Projects Stream provides grants of $20,000 to $10 million to support projects which involve the construction of new infrastructure, or the upgrade or extension of existing infrastructure.
- The Community Investments Stream provides grants of $5,000 to $10 million to new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, or leadership and capability strengthening activities.
Who can apply?
At a minimum, you must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be one of the following incorporated entities:
- an incorporated not for profit organisation
- an Australian local government agency or body as defined in appendix A of the grant opportunity guidelines
- non-distributing co-operatives
- Other eligibility requirements, including project location, apply.
