  • VisitCanberra attends ATE19
POSTED May 1, 2019
CATEGORIES Events, International,

VisitCanberra was joined by six tourism industry partners in Perth from 9 – 12 April to take part in the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE).  ATE, run by Tourism Australia, is Australia’s largest annual travel tradeshow. The event attracted more than 2,000 delegates from 30 countries.

Over the course of ATE19, VisitCanberra, along with the six industry partners held more than 600 meetings with international travel buyers and media with the aim to promote Canberra as a destination for international visitors. The meetings focussed on key international markets of Singapore, Malaysia, India, China, Hong Kong and United Kingdom, and emerging markets of Germany and United States of America. An increased level of engagement and awareness of Canberra was noticed amongst international buyers, and the event generated many positive leads and new business relationships for VisitCanberra and industry partners.

The six Canberra industry partners who attended ATE19 were Blue Skies Adventure Tours, Canberra Guided Tours, Canberra Secrets Personalised Tours, National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Australia and Sydney-Melbourne Touring.

VisitCanberra’s presence was complimented by a Canberra café which created a networking area for buyers and sellers. Canberra’s regional produce was showcased in the café, with ONA coffee on offer daily and Underground Spirits gin served alongside oysters from the Sapphire Coast during the Happy Hour event.

ATE20 will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 10 – 14 May 2020.  If you are interested in finding out more about ATE and how you can get involved in 2020 please contact Nicole Turnbull, Partnerships Events Officer.
