The Canberra and Region Visitors Centre (CRVC) recently hosted its volunteers for their regular quarterly meeting and took the opportunity to do some taste testings of a number of local products. This was a wonderful opportunity for the volunteers to gain first-hand knowledge of the food and beverage they promote to the public.
The CRVC showcases a range of local and regional products including a large selection of Canberra district wines, beer, gin and vodka. Fergus McGhie from Mount Majura Wines gave a presentation on the variety of grapes and the unique growing conditions that create award winning wines in the area.
Some of the other tasted products included:
- Chocolate from Jasper & Myrtle;
- Air Dried Steak Biltong from Barbell Foods;
- Oils from Homeleigh Grove;
- Bacon Jam and Chilli Bacon Jam from Pialligo Estate;
- Nuts from World’s Best Nuts
- Jams and Chutneys from The Parsons Pleasures;
- Beers from Bentspoke and Capital Brewing;
- Various Canberra District Wines;
- Distilled product from The Canberra Distillery and Underground Spirits; and
- Schnapps from Wild Brumby Distillery.
