VisitCanberra, along with four Canberra tourism businesses and the Canberra Airport Group, attended the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) at the Sydney International Convention Centre late last month. Hosted by Tourism Australia, ATE is Australia’s largest annual travel and tourism business-to-business event and is a key component of VisitCanberra’s international trade activity.

VisitCanberra attended over 100 scheduled appointments and meetings with domestic and international travel trade to provide updates on new products, destination information and itinerary suggestions. Appointments included those with wholesalers, inbound tour operators, retail travel agents, and online travel agencies based in Southeast Asia, New Zealand, the US and UK.

Ahead of the event in Sydney, VisitCanberra hosted a four-day pre-event familiarisation program for several key Southeast Asian key distribution partners. The famil offered these partners the opportunity to experience Canberra first-hand and to foster connections that enable Canberra to be sold to the international marketplace. The group departed Canberra with greater knowledge of how to sell the destination.
