In October, VisitCanberra attended ATEC Meeting Place on the Gold Coast with one of Canberra’s largest tourism operator contingents. Hosted by the Australian Tourism Export Council (ATEC), Meeting Place is an annual business-to-business event for Australia’s tourism industry, connecting tourism products with more than 600 industry leaders from across Australia.
Seven trade-ready Canberra tourism businesses, including Capital Hotel Group, Corin Forest, GoBoat, Mercure Canberra, National Museum of Australia, National Zoo & Aquarium, and the National Portrait Gallery, all took the opportunity to build important connections with more than 100 international travel buyers during pre-scheduled appointments.
The final day of ATEC Meeting Place wrapped with an incredible line up of keynote speakers as part of the conference program. Tourism Australia shared insight into the future of distribution, Simon Kuestenmacher explored the shifting demographics of the global traveller, while the afternoon finished on a panel unlocking the potential of Southeast Asia and Paralympian Curtis McGrath’s thought provoking triumph over adversity.
