VisitCanberra recently joined forces with Stromlo Forest Park to showcase Canberra’s world-class mountain biking experiences at the inaugural Sea Otter Australia Festival—Australia’s largest MTB event. This collaboration positioned Canberra firmly on the map for thousands of passionate riders and outdoor enthusiasts, highlighting the city’s unique blend of trails, nature, and accessibility.

Our presence at Sea Otter was more than just promotion; it was about building connections and inspiring riders to explore Canberra’s diverse terrain. From Stromlo’s purpose-built tracks to the scenic routes surrounding the capital, we demonstrated why Canberra is a must-visit destination for mountain biking in Australia.

Our presence at Sea Otter Australia was part of VisitCanberra’s on-going partnership with Destination Southern NSW, and the ideal vehicle to launch the exciting Great Southern Trails mountain bike loop. This new initiative links Canberra with the South Coast and the Snowy Mountains, creating an unparalleled riding experience that combines alpine climbs, coastal views, and Canberra’s world class trails. Together, these regions will form Australia’s most accessible and comprehensive mountain biking region – Great Southern Trails. Check out the website here.

These partnerships underscore the power of industry collaboration in attracting high-value visitor segments. Mountain biking is one of the fastest-growing adventure tourism markets, and by working together, we are positioning Canberra and its surrounding regions as the ultimate playground for riders of all skill levels.

Want to be part of the action? Planning is already underway for the 2026 Sea Otter Festival, and VisitCanberra is looking to showcase even more of our region’s incredible experiences. If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact the VisitCanberra team to explore partnership opportunities.
